Reading a model answer is not the same as producing one. Cover the solution and attempt the question on paper first. Then compare your layout and figures with ours line by line. Where they differ, you will often find one habit to fix. It might be a subtotal in the wrong place, a missed adjustment or a figure on the wrong side.
Layout earns marks, not just the answer
In accounting, the examiner marks presentation as well as accuracy. Each set shows the standard layout for the statement or account. Clear subtotals, workings in a separate column and one figure per line earn a large share of the method marks. Every set also has a "Method and where the marks are" section. It explains the steps, the reasoning behind key lines and the mistakes students make most often, so you can apply the method to a new question.
Our own questions and solutions
Every question, figure and comment here is our own. The commentary is not a board mark scheme. For official past papers and mark schemes, see the exam boards. If a method still does not click after a set, one of our teachers can talk through it with you one-to-one. Book a trial class.
