Privacy Policy

What personal data we collect, why, how long we keep it and who sees it. It also covers your rights under Malaysia’s PDPA 2010, as amended in 2024.

Who is responsible for your data

IGCSE Accounting Malaysia (“we”, “us”) is the data user for personal data collected through this website and through enquiries and lessons. Our contact for all personal data matters, including the data protection officer role under the PDPA, is Learnwithrig@gmail.com.

What personal data we collect

• Enquiry details: your name and your child's name, the year group (Y9, Y10 or Y11), target grade, exam year, exam board and the area you are in. We only receive what you choose to send in the WhatsApp message.
• Messages: the content of WhatsApp messages and emails you send us, and the phone number or email address they come from.
• Lesson information: the topics covered, homework and progress notes, and the schedule agreed for your child’s lessons.
• Website analytics: when Google Analytics 4 (GA4) is switched on, analytics cookies and similar identifiers record pages visited. They also record device and browser type, approximate location and clicks on our WhatsApp buttons. This data is aggregated and does not include your name.

Children’s details are provided by a parent or guardian. If you are a parent or guardian, you confirm that you are entitled to give us your child’s information.

Why we use it

• To reply to your enquiry and arrange a paid trial class.
• To deliver lessons, give feedback and send parents WhatsApp updates on what was covered.
• To agree the lesson rate and payment arrangements with you.
• To understand how the website is used and improve it, through GA4 analytics.
• To meet our legal obligations.

Cookies and analytics

Analytics cookies are used to measure how visitors use the site. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site works without them. Analytics data is handled by Google under Google’s own privacy terms.

Who we share it with

We share personal data with the teacher assigned to your child. We also share it with the service providers needed to run the service. These are WhatsApp (Meta) for messaging, Google for email and analytics, and the video-call platform used for lessons. These providers may process data on servers outside Malaysia, under their own security commitments.

We disclose data to authorities when the law requires it. Your data is used for the purposes listed above only.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry and lesson information for as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal requirements. When it is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous. You can ask us to delete your data at any time, subject to any legal duty to keep it.

How we protect it

Access to enquiry and lesson information is limited to the people who need it for your child’s lessons. Accounts are protected with the security controls offered by the providers named above.

Your rights under the PDPA

• Access: ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you or your child.
• Correction: ask us to correct data that is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.
• Data portability: ask us to transfer your personal data to another data user of your choice, where technically feasible, as provided by the 2024 amendments.
• Withdraw consent and limit processing: ask us to stop using your data for a purpose, including analytics.
• Deletion: ask us to delete data we no longer need to hold.

If a data breach happens

If a personal data breach is likely to cause significant harm, we notify the Personal Data Protection Commissioner and the people affected. We do so as soon as practicable, as the 2024 amendments to the PDPA require. We explain what happened and what you can do.
