- The complete syllabus taught from first principles
- A sequence and pace set to the student
- Marked practice in the style of the board’s papers
- Guidance on sitting as a private candidate through the British Council
Every syllabus and exam fact on this site is cited to the exam board’s official documents. See exam boards and Sources.

Rate and trial
from RM75/hr.

A dedicated teacher vs self-study from textbooks
| Teacher-led 1-to-1 | Textbook self-study | |
|---|---|---|
| Someone to answer questions | ✓ | No |
| Marked feedback | ✓ | No |
| Accountability & pace | ✓ | Self-driven |
When the other option is better: Confident, self-directed homeschoolers with strong support at home may only need us for the harder topics and a final exam-technique push.
Why accounting is a hard subject to teach at home
Many parents can guide English or chemistry but find that debits and credits follow rules that feel odd until someone shows why they hold together. The worry we hear most is a parent wondering whether they are teaching a mistake that will only show up later.
That worry is fair. A misunderstanding in accounting hides inside every ledger the student draws up. For example, a student may not realise why the owner's capital sits on the same side as liabilities.
By the time it shows, weeks of practice may have reinforced the wrong habit. Our teaching is built to cover that gap.
We act as the subject teacher for Accounting, and the rest of the home timetable stays yours.
Lessons that fit your timetable
Lessons fit around your household timetable. Some families run Accounting intensively over a short stretch.
Others keep a steady weekly lesson alongside other subjects for more than a year. When we first speak, we ask how the week is already shaped, then place the lesson in a slot that protects your routine.
In a shared class a teacher must move at the pace of the middle of the room. Here the whole hour belongs to your child.
If the accounting equation clicks in ten minutes, we move on to source documents. If it does not, we stay and rebuild it with real cash and everyday items on a table before any T-account appears.
What the first weeks look like
We start by mapping what your child already knows. It is often patchy: strong on the arithmetic, hazy on the vocabulary, unsure why it is arranged this way. Double entry comes first, because everything depends on it.
We also build one small worked business that the student carries through the whole course. Suppose it is a stationery shop with RM8,000 of capital, fixtures bought for RM3,000 and stock bought for RM2,000 on credit. We record those transactions first.
Later we return to the same shop for the trial balance, the trading account and the statement of financial position. Using one familiar business makes later statements feel like the story of a shop the student already knows.
Practice, marking and feedback
Without classmates to measure against, motivation comes from visible progress. We use short cycles of new material followed by practice. We mark the practice closely, not just the final answer.
A student who reaches the right profit figure by a muddled route will lose marks in an exam. That is easy to prevent once someone points it out.
After each session your teacher sends a short recap of the ledgers or adjustments covered, graded practice questions and worked solutions the learner can check without an adult. For parents, we add a plain note on what a good answer looks like.
You can then look at a finished depreciation schedule and see whether it holds together. Your child sends back their attempts and the teacher marks them before the next lesson, showing where an entry went to the wrong side.
We show students how to lay out a ledger so the balancing is clean and how to check their own work. At home there is no teacher glancing over a shoulder, so this habit matters more than anywhere.
Sitting the exam
Most homeschoolers sit as private candidates. Entry logistics are handled by the centre you register with.
We make the academic side ready: the full syllabus, including the topics home learners often skip, and exam-style questions under sensible time limits. We build up from short tasks to longer mixed sets so that a timed paper feels ordinary.
Can a homeschooled student reach a strong standard in Accounting? Yes.
Accounting is learned by doing and being corrected straight away, which suits 1-to-1 lessons well. We report progress in plain terms and tell you which topics are secure and which need more time.
To see how an accounting lesson fits your week, book a trial class. Lessons start from RM75 an hour, with the exact rate agreed beforehand.
