How we write and source our content
Our guides, worked examples and practice sets are built on the exam boards’ official documents and reviewed by our experienced accounting teachers.
What we cover
IGCSE / International GCSE Accounting for Cambridge 0452 and 0985, Pearson Edexcel 4AC1 and OxfordAQA 9215, from Year 9 foundation to Year 11 exam preparation. Our subject content explains accounting concepts, techniques and exam skills in plain English.
Official sources
Syllabus and exam facts come from the exam boards’ own documents. These are the Cambridge syllabuses and specimen papers, the Pearson Edexcel specification and sample assessment materials, and the OxfordAQA specification. Grade thresholds and registration details come from the boards and the British Council.
Each fact links to its source on our Sources page. Where an official document is not yet available to us, we say so rather than fill the gap.
How content is written
- Explanations, worked examples and practice questions are written for this site, with original figures.
- Past-paper questions and mark schemes stay with the boards; we link to their official pages and teach the technique for earning the marks.
- Terminology follows the board’s own wording for the qualification being taught.
- Pages state the board and series they apply to, because specifications differ between Cambridge, Edexcel and OxfordAQA.
Review by our teachers
Our team of experienced accounting teachers checks content for accuracy, for method (the way the board expects answers to be laid out) and for clarity for students. Our teachers are introduced on the Our teachers page.
When a fact cannot be confirmed
Some details, such as a registration deadline or a venue, can change from one exam series to the next. If we cannot confirm a detail from an official page, we leave out the specific and point you to the official page. Everything you read here can be traced back to a document you can open yourself.
Each page shows which board and series it covers. The facts on it link to the Sources page, which lists the document, version and the date we checked it.
Corrections and updates
Specifications change, so we revisit pages when a board publishes a new syllabus or specification. If you spot an error or an out-of-date fact, email Learnwithrig@gmail.com with the page address and the correction. We check it against the official document and fix the page. Please always confirm current details with the exam board before entering an exam.
