Is my child ready for IGCSE Accounting?

A parent and student discussing study notes at a home table

Answer ten questions for a suggested starting point: Year 9 foundation, Year 10 or Year 11 exam preparation. Use it as a guide to talk over with us.

How to read your result

The questionnaire weighs a few practical signals: how confident your child feels, how school is going, how much time is realistic and how close the exam is. It then suggests where to begin.

A later-stage result means the conditions are good for steady 1-to-1 progress. An earlier-stage result usually means fixing foundations first, such as the accounting equation and double-entry basics, before full financial statements. Neither answer is fixed. Children often move quickly once the early logic clicks.

Readiness is about starting point, not talent

Parents often worry that a cautious result means their child is "not a numbers person". IGCSE Accounting rewards method and consistency far more than mathematical flair. The arithmetic rarely goes beyond percentages and careful addition. What matters is whether a student can follow a logical sequence, lay work out neatly and keep going when a figure will not balance.

Those habits can be taught. A child who looks behind in one term can move quickly once the logic of debits, credits and the accounting equation clicks. The result simply helps choose a starting point and pace.

What to do next

Whatever the result, the most useful next step is a conversation about your child: their board, their school's pace and where they lose confidence. Send us your result on WhatsApp, or book a paid one-hour trial. The teacher will confirm the right level in the first lesson, based on what your child actually knows. You will leave with a plan for the first few weeks.

Many families complete the questionnaire together with their child. The answers often show which topics feel secure and which feel new.

Frequently asked questions

What does this questionnaire give me?

A guide to a sensible starting point, built from your answers. A trial lesson then confirms it in practice.

What if the suggestion feels off?

You know your child best. Message us on WhatsApp and we will talk it through, then confirm the level in the trial.

Can my child start at a different level?

Yes. The suggestion is a starting point, and the teacher adjusts in the first lesson based on what they see.

Not sure where your child should start?

Send the question you are stuck on, and the teacher will talk it through in the trial class. One-to-one and online, from RM75/hr.
